THE 30TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE CONVENTION ON THE RIGHTS OF THE CHILD AMAN CENTER CONTINUES ITS ACTIVITIES FOR CHILDREN

Introduction:

Under the supervision of Qatar Foundation for Social Work, the Center for Protection and Social Rehabilitation (AMAN) is organizing several awareness activities for children on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Convention on the Rights of the Child.

The Center started in August and lasts until November, in accordance with the Arab Children's Day, the International Day of Non-Violence and the International Children's Day

Aim:

Through these various activities and activities, AMAN aims to enhance the vision and mission of the Center in providing protection and social rehabilitation, in addition to spreading awareness and education through organizing several awareness campaigns and workshops for all children, their parents and those around them.

Interactive Forum 'Child Protection Mechanisms'

The Center has organized an interactive forum entitled 'Child Protection Mechanisms' in order to protect the child from  bullying and harassment in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education, where more than 300 social and psychological specialists from various primary schools, kindergartens and nurseries, in addition to the centers concerned with children in The State of Qatar, with a view to presenting the most important mechanisms of child protection to provide specialists with skills to educate children to protect themselves from any abuse, according to scientific methods, practical, simplified and attractive to children.

Awareness Campaigns:

The center has launched " Drop off your Kids" campaign to motivate the parents to rapprochement with their children and invest the time in conversation and discussion and promote the positive values of children, and encourage parents to Drop off their children to school, in addition to reducing dependence on servants in dropping them off and highlight the positive impact on the psyche of the child who feels safe and proud with His parents, to Motivate officials in making it easier for their employees to allow them to drop off their children.

Aman has organized several awareness campaigns for children and parents Do not touch me to educate children against harassment, targeting primary schools and kindergartens, provided by a specialized team, which aims to teach children the skills to protect themselves from harassment.

Awareness films:

The center produces a number of awareness and educational videos for the child, through which they provide positive messages to the child to encourage family cohesion and tolerance, in addition to producing attractive cartoon films for the child.

Arab Child Day Celebration:

Aman Center celebrated the Arab Children's Day, which falls on the first of October every year. The Center participated in cooperation with both Dreamah and Shafallah Center and Wefaq Center to organize an interactive event at Qatar Commercial Mall. Each center has dedicated a pavilion in which it presents competitions and gifts for children.

 The child takes a memorial photo of the occasion with his friends in order to convey the message of cohesion, coexistence and understanding with the children of the world, and to emphasize the principle of Arab unity and the cohesion of peoples with each other.

Celebration of International Children's Day:

Aman is keen to celebrate the International Children's Day.

On World Children's Day, the first unique pavilion was organized to show the positive and negative effects of the use of electronic games. Together with Wifaq Center participating in the launch of the world's largest child wish board, which will set a new record for Qatar in the Guinness Book of World Records.

Dr. Mansour Al-Saadi: The essence of Aman Center work is in line with the main objective of the Convention, which is to provide protection for children

Dr. Mansour Al-Saadi, Executive Director of Aman Center stated that the center seeks to transform the Convention on the Rights of the Child from mere texts into practical mechanisms and implement the principles set forth in the Convention such as providing the right to protection of the child, the right to report, and enabling the parents and those around him to provide the necessary care. He added that the core of Aman Center's work is in line with the main objective of the Convention, which is to provide protection for children.

He pointed out that the center depends in most of its activities and campaigns to go to the children themselves as the target group of the work of the center

Mariam al-Maliki: The Awareness activities of Aman Center are directed to the child himself

Mrs. Mariam al-Malki, a social counselor at Aman Center, said that the activities of the center are directed towards the child himself, such as "Don't Touch Me" Campaign, which aims to provide the child with the skills of protection from harassment, as well as child-friendly and non-violent games that aim to provide a useful alternative to the child instead of violent games. It allows the child to report any abuse, and pointed out that directing the speech to the child itself enhances the value and strength of the persuasive message addressed to him.

The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) 

In 1989, world leaders made a historic commitment to the world's children by adopting the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child as children under the age of 18 often needed special cares. The United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) is a legally-binding international agreement setting out the civil, political, economic, social and cultural rights of every child, regardless of their race, religion or abilities. The Convention contains 54 articles and two protocols. (Children's survival and development) Every child has the right to survive. The state must do all it can to make sure children survive and develop to the full extent possible, protection from violence, abuse and neglect, full participation in the family and cultural and social life.

About Aman:

In 2013 by decision of H.H ShaikhaMozaBint Nasser, the Protection & Social Rehabilitation Center (AMAN) was established. The center looks after protection & rehabilitation of women and children who are victims of violence or break up, and reintegrating them in society. AMAN operates under the umbrella of Qatar Foundation for Social Work.​​​
