FOR THE THIRD YEAR CONSECUTIVELY, AMAN CENTER CONTINUES ITS IMPLEMENTATION IN TWO LANGUAGES “DON`T TOUCH ME” CAMPAIGN VISITS SCHOOLS

Introduction:
For the third year consecutively, Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center (Aman), affiliated to Qatar Foundation for Social work, Continues in implementing the awareness campaign for children “Don`t Touch Me" in both Arabic and English language, which is an awareness campaign against harassment in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. The campaign targets all students of Primary schools and kindergartens, where it has so far included more than (385) schools with more than 74 thousand students. The campaign uses a specialized robot that has been prepared and programmed to contribute to the awareness in an interesting and attractive manner through interactive live presentations in which the robot addresses and responds to children, which contributes in stirring enthusiasm and motivation of students, and increases the level of interaction, which supports the delivery of the message and understanding it.
The campaign started in 2017 and continues until the end of the 2019-2020 school year, with a plan to continue the campaign annually. In this first semester of this year, the campaign covered 125 schools, benefiting more than 9000 students.
The Target of the Campaign:
This campaign aims to educate children on ways to protect themselves from harassment behaviors in general and sexual in particular, in addition to promote positive values among children.
The Idea of the Campaign:
The campaign shares children taking a preliminary test to measure their concept of protection and then the child will play five cultural and educational games (practical) through which he is trained on how to protect himself from any sexual harassment may be subjected to.

The campaign targets most of the state's primary schools, which have been identified in accordance with the country's geographical map. In addition to a number of centers concerned with children such as the Shafallah Center for Persons with Disabilities, the Audio Education Complex and Al Noor Institute for the Blind.

The plan is to implement this campaign through the provision of a series of events and activities provided by qualified Qatari cadres on the mechanisms of dealing with the child and how to communicate the message in an easy and simplified way, in addition to the presence of a group of social workers in this field in cooperation with a number of specialized educational trainers, the training workshops in the campaign focus on the practical side, and the use of simplified means to attract the child and draw attention, and focus on education of value.

Dr. Mansour Al-Saadi, Executive Director: "Don't Touch Me" campaign applies the recommendations of the Child Mechanisms Forum

Dr. / Mansour Al-Saadi, Executive Director of Aman Center said that the campaign seeks to apply the recommendations of the Child Mechanisms Forum, which was organized by Aman Center in October in cooperation with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. He added that we are keen at Aman Center to protect and rehabilitate children, and we will continue to implement the campaign “Don`t Touch Me" annually with new ideas and methods, this campaign is characterized by addressing the child directly to enable him to protect himself by himself and not through his parents, so the campaign "Don't Touch Me" simulates the child and consistent with the way he thinking, especially with the inserting of new ideas such as the robot and anthropomorphic characters that attract children.

He mentioned that Aman Center has distributed “Don`t Touch Me bag" which includes all the tools needed for the campaign, such as figures, awareness films, and guidelines manuals. He emphasized that the new in the campaign in this year is the production of a number of new cartoon awareness films that deliver direct messages which reduce the risk of harassment against children. He added that this year, a special bag for the campaign has also been designed and will be distributed during the team visits to schools, whether governmental or private, this bag contains the basic tools used in the implementation of the campaign such as: Flash for awareness films, induction brochure of the campaign, anthropomorphic characters of the campaign in which case the right and wrong touches.

For her part, Ms. Amna Al Mahmoud, Head of Programs and Design Department at Aman Center, said: “We at Aman Center strive to develop the campaign every year where we witness a great demand to implement the campaign from various schools, which creates a great motivation to create new ideas to present the campaign in an attractive and easy way for the child to Understand the message. The protection of children is our initial aim and therefore we are keen to hold training sessions for the team of the campaign of “Don`t Touch Me"/ where a number of specialists from Aman Center with expertise and competencies participate in it especially in the field of education and social service, who relied on practical methods to establish some concepts such as knowledge of the child in which case the right touch and the wrong touch in his body from any relative or neighbor, and not accompanying strangers, in addition to aware them of prevention and face a situation methods, and  how to report in the incident of any sexual harassment by informing parents or one of the teachers at school, or by calling the hotline number of Aman Center (919), which provides advanced services to receive requests for social protection or counseling, legal, psychological and social services or through the use of the mobile application "Help Me" which is an electronic application that enables the child to report any problem he may face.

Parents' opinions about “Don't Touch Me" campaign:

A number of parents expressed their satisfaction with the implementation of this campaign. For example, the guardian of the student Saud Saqr expressed that such campaigns are ongoing throughout the school year and are carried out from time to time in all schools in the state, and protecting children is everyone's responsibility. Um Mohammed - responsible for learning resources in a primary school, expressed the extent to which students benefited from the campaign, adding that she and her classmates have formed an internal team at the school to carry out the campaign weekly as part of their annual plan to educate children about prevention of harassment they may face. While Ms. Hessa Fahd said that the campaign “Don`t Touch Me" changed the behavior and personality of her son, through the concepts used in the implementation of the campaign, he was able to strengthen the relationship with himself and others, and to increase his interaction with them. He was also able to master the skills of self-defense, especially as these skills were applied in a manner of play, which contributed in consolidation it in the mind of the child.

It is worth mentioning that Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center (Aman) has provided “Don`t Touch Me" campaign in many external entities such as Qatar Electricity and Water Corporation “Kahramaa", the Shafallah Center for Persons with Disabilities and Al Noor Center for the Blind. In this regard, a team of the campaign joined a training course to learn sign language by a group of experts and consultants in this field, focusing on the direct practical training, where the trainees received a practical training explanation of the sign language and how to simulate the deaf.

By decision of H.H Shaikha Moza Bint Nasser, the Protection and Social rehabilitation Center (Aman) was established in 2013. The Center looks after protection and rehabilitation women and children who are victims of violence and break up, and reintegrating them in society.
