Sheikh Dr. Nasser Al Thani: We react with the local community to show the role of the Center and its services provided to women

The Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center “AMAN" which is one of the centers of Qatar Social Works Foundation which in its turn is affiliated with the Ministry of Social Development and Family launches its awareness events and activities on the occasion of International Women's Day, which falls on the 8th of March every year. The Center launches a group of awareness and introductory workshops about the role of the Center towards women at Qatar University, Community College of Qatar and Lusail University. These workshops are presented by a number of specialists at the departments of Protection and Rehabilitation at AMAN Center. In addition, an introductory corner will be organized on the sidelines of the awareness workshops to introduce the public to the role of the Center and the services provided to the targeted groups of women, children, and victims or those who are at risk of violence and family disintegration.

On this occasion, the Executive Director, Sheikh Nasser bin Ahmed Al Thani said: the Center celebrates that event to highlight women's achievements in all fields and ensure their important role in building the future. He added: we made sure that the celebration copes with the UN celebration that chose the theme “Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow". This comes to encourage girls and women who lead the mission of adapting to, mitigating and responding to Climate Change in order to build a more sustainable future.

HE Sheikh Dr. Nasser bin Ahmed Al Thani added that they paid attention to explaining the role of the Center and its most important services provided to women. He pointed out that their goal is to provide women with social protection and support to complete their achievements and success in all fields because today women are partners of men in accomplishing achievements and tournaments.

About celebrating International Women's Day, HE pointed out that the most important activity of the celebration is the organization of a series of various awareness messages that will start by launching a group of film materials and awareness designs of women through social media on the Center's accounts.

The Center will cooperate with Qatar University, Community College of Qatar and Lusail University to organize a series of awareness workshops about women's issues and their role in society as well as the most important services offered by AMAN Center to provide women with social protection. In addition, an introductory pavilion was allocated for AMAN inside the Campus to introduce the students to the Center's role towards women by highlighting the most important services at the Center such as the hotline service (919) and women's electronic applications as Consult AMAN App in addition to other awareness, protection, rehabilitation and continuous after-care.

The Center will activate the hashtag #women's day# 8 March in cooperation with restaurants and coffee shops during the Center's celebration of International Women's Day.

It is worth mentioning that the theme of International Women's Day for 2023 was “Gender Equality today for a sustainable tomorrow". This comes to encourage girls and women who lead the mission of adapting to, mitigating, and responding to climate change in order to build a more sustainable future. This topic is for admitting that women are more affected by climate change than men, for they constitute the majority of the poor people in the world who depend more on nature.

Women's International Day is an international celebration of women's efforts and effective roles in the different fields of life. On this day, the world expresses love and appreciation for women in their different roles in our life, and the great and prominent social, political, and economic achievements they have been accomplishing in international society. This day is aimed at breaking discrimination and acknowledging all efforts made by women in all fields of life.

The celebration of International Women's Day takes place on the eighth of March every year. In 1975, the United Nations decided to celebrate this day and choose a different theme for it every year. In 1976, the first theme was “Celebrating the past and Planning for the Future".
