INTERNATIONAL DAY AGAINST VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN WOMEN'S EMPOWERMENT FORUM AT AMAN CENTER
Under the umbrella of the Qatar Foundation for Social Action, the Center for Protection and Social Rehabilitation (AMAN) is organizing the “Empowerment of Women" Forum in conjunction with the International Day of Violence Against Women, on Monday 18 November at the Sheraton Hotel, Al Majlis Hall, at 8:00 am
With the participation of a group of specialists from the State of Kuwait Dr. Jassem - a well-known social expert, and activist Shaima Al-Aidi - Ambassador of humanitarian work, and from Qatar State Professor Nora Al-Mannai - one of the most prominent counselors in the family and society field.
- Objective of the Forum:
The Forum aims to highlight the issue of women's empowerment and the effectiveness of empowerment in the face of violence, and give participants new skills and capacity building and highlight the mechanisms of social protection and the role of women in family and community issues.
- Main Forum Topics:
The forum will discuss a number of axes, the most important of which are the role of women in education and reducing dependence on educators. And the women is a good model for girls, in addition to talking about positive freedom and reducing negative emancipation, talking about women's work and how to make the balance between the requirements of home and work, as well as empowering women against crises facing here in health, social, economic, and political.

For his part, Dr. Mansour Al-Saadi, Executive Director of the AMAN Center, pointed out that Qatari women always prove their ability to stand steady in front of crises, and their attitude to suffering the effects of the unjust siege and family disintegration was an example.
He added that the Center is keen to ensure that the interactive forum translates the objectives of AMAN Center for the benefit of its target groups, especially awareness raising and capacity building through empowerment, and strengthen protection skills through the acquisition of new skills and ways of life that enable women to facing their challenges.
"Empowerment is no longer an individual choice, but a social and society necessity imposed by contemporary reality and translated by various international conventions and agreements ratified by the State of Qatar, which reflects the great importance of the concept and methods of empowerment."

This forum discusses the mechanisms of empowering women to face violence by exploring new ways of thinking and highlighting positive models that have been able through their own experiences to achieve empowerment in new and innovative ways.
- Hanan Al Ali - Contact Manager:
Ms. Hanan Al-Ali, Director of the Communication and Information Office at AMAN Center, said the importance of interaction with international days in order to educate and activate the principle of the United Nations to participate and celebrate international days by organizing some activities and events. In addition, she added "We in AMAN Center celebrate of all children and women events; our celebration of the International Day against Violence against Women is a tool to spread and strengthen the concept of empowerment of women, through the acquisition of new skills.
- International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women:
The United Nations General Assembly has designated 25 November as the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, with the aim of raising awareness about the extent of the problems faced by women around the world.
Moreover, one of the goals highlighted is to show that the true nature of the problem which still hidden. In 2014, the official theme, formulated by the UN Secretary-General's initiative named union to end violence against women.
It is worth mentioning that the Center pays special attention to issues related to woman, and recently launched the initiative of “Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women in the Work Environment" within the framework of activating the consultative status of the Qatar Foundation for Social Action to the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC).
This initiative is the first approved international framework to measure the compatibility of organizations' regulations with women's empowerment mechanisms. The initiative was launched as a first phase in AMAN Center, followed by other centers under the umbrella of the Qatar Foundation for Social Action.
Believing in the importance of awareness and social education on issues related to women and enhancing the image of women in manner equal to their status in various fields.
- About AMAN Center:
The Center for Protection and Social Rehabilitation (AMAN) was established by the decision of Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser "God save her" in May 2013 to protect and rehabilitate children and women and reintegrate them into society.
