Preface:

Protection and Social Rehabilitation center, "AMAN", - which operates under the umbrella of Qatar Foundation for Social Work - celebrates "International Women's Day" on Saturday, 7th March at the St. Regis Hotel at 5:00 pm, where an interactive forum will be held in cooperation with the Qatari Lawyers Association entitled "Women between reality and challenges".

The objective of the forum:

The forum aims to celebrate "International Women's Day" by presenting its issues in reality and discussing the most important challenges facing it, and providing the participants with new skills on building their capabilities and how to empower, protect women as cultural, social and human value, in addition to highlighting their role in building society side by side with men. Empowering women is a necessary goal at all levels because of its benefits at the individual, family and societal levels.

The most important topics:

The forum includes two main topics (social) that deals with women's issues from the perspective of civil society, (legal) that is handling women's issues in Qatari legislation.

The most important participants:

The event will be attended by His Excellency Amal Bint Abdul Latif Al Mannai, CEO of Qatar Foundation for Social Work, and Mr. Rashid Al Nuaimi, President of Qatar lawyers Association. Member of Shura Council, Mrs. Haifa Al-Baker, the first Qatari lawyer, and Mrs. Rissa Al-Dossary, Executive Director of Alreyada Girls Center. Both Dr. Hessa Al-Sulaiti and Mrs. Maryam Al-Jayer, Head of the Family and Juvenile Prosecution Office will participate in the second session that will be managed by Mrs. Maryam Al-Hagri, Mrs. Tahani Al-Hajri is a writer and human rights activist, and lawyer Amina Al-Mansoori.

Maryam Al-Misnad Empowerment is the most important goal of the center in qualifications development.

Mrs. Maryam Al-Misnad, Executive Director of Aman Center, indicated that the center is keen to translate Aman Center goals through the interactive forum to benefit the target groups, including awareness and qualifications development through empowerment, and enhancing protection skills through the acquisition of new skills and methods in life that enables Women to overcome their challenges.

She added that empowerment is no longer an individual option presented, but rather a social and social necessity imposed by contemporary reality and translated by the various international agreements and covenants ratified by the State of Qatar, which reflects the great importance of the concept and methods of empowerment.

She added that such an interactive forum contributes to creating awareness and correcting interconnected or incorrect concepts on some issues, including self-realization and positive emancipation, and the practical role of women in crises as the heart of the family and the basis for achieving family cohesion.

She emphasized that such concepts greatly affect the formation of awareness and consciousness of the new generation of young men and women, and we, as a center concerned with achieving family cohesion, protecting and rehabilitating women, we found it our duty to contribute to achieving positive change by empowering women to achieve cohesion in a practical way.

 Jazanan Al-Hajri: Qatari legislation providing protection for women

Mr. Jazanan Al-Hajri, Vice President of Qatari Lawyers Association affirmed that Qatari legislation provides legal protection for women, stressing the importance of celebrating International Women's Day, especially since Qatar is one of the signatories of the International Covenants on Human Rights, namely the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the International Covenant on Economic and Social Rights And cultural, which will positively reflect on the strategies, policies and legislation of the country, the most prominent of which is the National Vision 2030

Hanan Al-Ali: The necessity and importance of celebrating international days

Mrs. Hanan Al-Ali - Director of the Communication and Information Office at Aman Center stated, "The necessity and importance of participating in celebrations of international days in order to educate and activate the principle of the United Nations in participating and celebrating international days by organizing some activities and events." She added, "We at Aman Center make sure to translate our celebration of women into events that discuss women's issues openly and transparently.

The International Women's Day

International Women's Day is a global celebration that occurs on the eighth day of March of each year, and is held to signify public respect, appreciation and love of women for their economic, political and social achievements, as that day symbolizes the struggle of women in which women across the world gathers in demonstrations to demand their rights.
