Protection and Social Rehabilitation Centre "Aman", as one of the centers of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work affiliated with the Ministry of Social Development and Family, remains committed to conducting a series of awareness workshops for students from both public and private schools as well as kindergartens, coinciding with the academic year.
These workshops aim to educate children about ways to safeguard themselves from various forms of misconduct that may lead any type of violence. Additionally, they seek to instill positive values among children and provide them with essential instructions on self-protection.
The campaign targets a majority of state schools at the primary stage and kindergartens. Coordination is conducted to arrange awareness workshops in schools through the registration link published on the center's social media accounts and the official website of Aman Center.
The plan to conduct these awareness workshops is executed by Qatari cadres qualified on child dealing techniques and proficient in delivering messages in a simplified manner. Additionally, a team of relevant specialized social workers from the Aman Center, possessing expertise and competencies, particularly in education and social services, are involved. They rely on practical methodologies to reinforce some concepts aimed at protecting children from various forms of aggression, abuse, danger, disturbance, insult, or harassment they may encounter from others. Furthermore, children are familiarized with safe boundaries such as those within family, school, and friendships, and taught not to accompany strangers. They are also educated about ways to prevent and address instances of violence, and instructed on how to report such incidents. This can be done by informing parents or a teacher within the school premises, or by calling the Aman Center hotline number (919), which offers comprehensive services for social protection, legal, psychological, and social assistance. Additionally, children can utilize electronic applications provided by the Aman Center, such as “Help Me” and “Inform Me” mobile applications for children, and the “Consult Aman” application for women.
In this regard, Sheikh Dr. Nasser bin Ahmed Al-Thani, Executive Director of the Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center "Aman", emphasized, "We are committed to ongoing implementation of these awareness workshops to protect our children from potential exposure to violence. These workshops have been delivered to 208 schools, reaching 37,158 students. Notably, the workshops directly engage students, empowering them to protect themselves independently of parental intervention. The workshops simulate real-life scenarios experienced by students, resonating with their perspectives, and are presented in ways that attract them.
Sheikh Dr. Nasser bin Ahmed Al-Thani also emphasized our commitment to addressing a diverse range of issues concerning the protection of children from various forms of violence they may encounter. These include psychological, physical, verbal, and economic violence, as well as issues related to neglect, bullying, and technological exploitation.
It is noteworthy that the Social Protection and Rehabilitation Center "Aman" is dedicated to raising awareness and educating about the enhancement of protection and rehabilitation for women and children in the State of Qatar. Established in 2013, the Center aims to protect and rehabilitate women and children who are victims of violence and family disintegration, facilitating their reintegration into society. The Center operates under the auspices of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work, which is affiliated with the Ministry of Social Development and Family.
