A DELEGATION FROM UNICEF'S EXECUTIVE BOARD VISITED QATAR FOUNDATION FOR SOCIAL WORK, THE DELEGATION EXPRESSED THEIR APPRECIATION TO THE ROLE OF THE FO
A delegation from UNICEF's Executive Board visited Qatar Foundation for social work, the delegation expressed their appreciation to the role of the foundation in children protection field.
A delegation led by Mr. Geert Cappelaere, UNICEF Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa, visited Qatar foundation for Social Work (QFSW). The delegation met with Mrs. Amal Abdullatif Al Mannai, QFSW's CEO and the other directors of Protection and Social Rehabilitation center (AMAN), Family Counseling Center (Wifaq), Al-Shafallah Center for Persons with Disabilities (Shafallah), the “Best Buddies”, and orphans care center "Dhreima".
The delegation was briefed on the role of the Foundation and its centers as civil society organizations in serving and empowering children in Qatar, as well as the great role played by the Foundation in achieving family safety in Qatar in general and children in particular. .
This visit comes within the framework of communication and cooperation between the Foundation and UNICEF, and other international organizations and institutions that help to activate efforts to achieve the Foundation's goals in providing a safe social environment for all within the framework of the sustainable development of the vision of Qatar 2030.
Then the delegation visited Protection and Social Rehabilitation Centre (AMAN), met with Mr. Mansour Al-Saadi, Executive Director of Protection and social Rehabilitation center (AMAN), in addition to the departments’ managers and heads at the center.
Mr. Mansour Al-Saadi welcomed the members of the delegation and offered a full presentation about the center role in achieving its goals and multitasks for serving the targeted categories, in addition to the centers’ strategic values that includes protection, rehabilitation, responsibility, privacy, partnership and co-operation.
Mr. Mansour Al-Saadi added that Aman center looks after women and children’s protection & rehabilitation who are victims of violence or break up, and reintegrating them into society, providing a Hotline 919 service, legal, social and psychological consultation to the targeted categories through rehabilitation visits and Lodging (temporary) which is considered as a temporary shelter to the targeted categories, also he had highlighted the events dedicated to the children as the form the essential asset of the centers’ work by releasing “help me” application for protecting children , as he can call for a help in case of any harm. The center also organized many educational awareness campaigns for example “Do not touch me” campaign and “Aman watch” for tracking the child and launching “Siynar” Game, the first non-violent online game.
The delegation visited al the departments and sections of the center, one of its most important departments which is protection & rehabilitation department that offers a rehabilitation srvecies for the targeted categories for example; medical, psychological and social care.
Also they visited the awareness department responsible for awareness campaigns and visited the planning office of the center that makes all the statistical reports and studies of the Center, as well as the call center office responsible for all the centers’ Media activities.
At the conclusion of the visit, the delegation expressed its happiness &appreciation to the efforts made by “Aman” center for Protection and Social Rehabilitation in providing protection and rehabilitation and reintegrated humanitarian care for its targeted categories.
