The Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center (Aman), one of the centers of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work, participated in the activities of the fifty-fourth conference with the International Organization for Empowerment of Women and Capacity Building in the State of Kuwait under the title “Social Work in the Arab World” (Reality and Ambition). In cooperation with the Regional Network for Social Responsibility, the National Society against Community Violence in the State of Kuwait and the Kuwait Social Association.
A delegation from Aman Center participated in the conference represented by Dr. Maryam Al-Malki, a social counsel at Aman Center, presenting a work sheet covering the subject of rapid response to crises and disasters, reflecting on the experience of the State of Qatar in the field of social work and how to provide social protection. This comes in addition to presenting to the conference the role of Aman Center and the most significant services provided to the targeted groups of women, children and victims of family disintegration from violence.
In this context, Dr. Maryam Al-Malki, a social counsel at Aman Center, highlighted the keenness of the State of Qatar to support social work, noting that civil society organizations in the State of Qatar provide social protection to every beneficiary of women, children and any member of society. While she also referred to human resources as one of the most important priorities, and this is confirmed by the Third Qatar National Development Strategy of Qatar Vision 2030.
Dr. Maryam Al-Malki also highlighted the experience of the State of Qatar represented by the Center for Protection and Social Rehabilitation (Aman) as one of the authorities that work under the umbrella of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work by highlighting the methods of social protection, and the programs that are developed to fulfill the needs of the targeted groups of women, children and victims of family disintegration, as she explained methods to prevent such disintegration, the mechanisms and special programs to stop any violence, in addition to how to handle cases suffering from violence.
Dr. Maryam also stressed Aman Center's keenness on how to respond quickly to any crises, such as dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic and how to provide services to the target groups using the advantages of remote work.
This participation comes within the framework of the plans and programs of Aman Center and to promote the community, regional and international partnership with government agencies, civil society institutions and the public/ private sectors.
It is worth mentioning that the Social Protection and Rehabilitation Center (Aman) is a member of the Advisory Council of the International Organization for the Empowerment of Women and Capacity Building in the State of Kuwait, which aims to keep pace with the developments on the Arab and regional arena in the field of supporting women, children and family issues.
The Centre for Social Protection and Rehabilitation (Aman) is mainly concerned with the protection and rehabilitation of women and children who are victims of violence and family disintegration and their reintegration into society.
