AMAN Participates in the Doha International Book Fair through the “My Book, My Friend” Initiative
The Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center “AMAN”, one of the centers affiliated with the Qatar Foundation for Social Work, is participating in the 35th edition of the Doha International Book Fair, held at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center from 14 to 23 May 2026. AMAN is taking part in the Fair through its awareness initiative, “My Book, My Friend”, which features a dedicated vending machine offering children’s books and stories in the children’s section.
This initiative supports the Center’s strategic goals by enhancing awareness and educational outreach for children, while also fostering community partnerships and collaboration with various external stakeholders.
In this context, Mr. Fadl Mohammed Al Kaabi, Acting Executive Director of the Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center (AMAN), affirmed the Center’s commitment to participating annually in the Doha International Book Fair through the “My Book, My Friend” initiative. He noted that the initiative aims to enhance community awareness and promote a culture of reading among children and families through innovative and interactive approaches that contribute to the intellectual and behavioral development of children, while reinforcing concepts of protection and psychological and social well-being. He added that the initiative seeks to encourage children and young people to read and to develop their intellectual and cognitive skills within a safe and supportive environment. “Our goal is to enrich our children’s minds with valuable information and beneficial stories, while reducing excessive reliance on electronic games,” he said.
Mr. Fadl Mohammed Al Kaabi further explained that these vending machines have been distributed across key locations frequented by children throughout the State, including shopping malls near play areas, cinemas, public parks, and pediatric clinics.
The “My Book, My Friend” initiative has received remarkable engagement from visitors and children alike. They were introduced to the initiative’s main objective, which focused on the importance of reading in shaping children’s personalities and strengthening the values of family security and positive communication within the family. The initiative also highlighted the Center’s services and awareness programs dedicated to women and children.
It is worth noting that the Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center (AMAN) seeks to promote awareness and education on enhancing the protection and rehabilitation of women and children in the State of Qatar. AMAN Center was established in 2013 to protect and rehabilitate women and child victims of violence and family disintegration, and reintegrate them into society.
The Center’s participation in the Book Fair stems from its mission to invest in awareness and knowledge as a means of prevention and protection, while strengthening the role of the family in raising an aware and educated generation capable of addressing various challenges.
