AMAN CENTRE AND THE NATIONAL COMMITTEE FOR HUMAN RIGHTS CELEBRATE WOMEN'S DAY IN AN INTERACTIVE MEETING

On this day of Wednesday, Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center (Aman), under the Qatar Foundation for Social Work organize an interactive meeting in cooperation with the National Committee for Human Rights entitled "Women and Family Cohesion".  Dr. Aisha Bint Yousef Al Mannai, Member of the Shura Council and Dr Mohammad Ratib Al Nabulsi, Former Professor of Sharia, at the University of Damascus participate in this meeting which will be held at the Council Hall in the Sheraton Hotel.

The meeting will discuss the role of women in enhancing family cohesion, through important focuses such as the empowerment as a mother, educator and a role model, also its positive and important role in times of crisis. The meeting is held in conjunction with the celebration of International Women's Day.  The subject of family cohesion was chosen as one of the pillars of the work of Aman Center and the National Human Rights Committee, and based on the slogan of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work "Towards a Cohesive Society" and its vision through its centers to raise awareness and educate the target categories. The meeting witnessed a great reaction through the electronic registration of the event, with more than 300 new registered.

 

Amal Al Mannai: Real empowerment in family cohesion

 

Ms. Amal Abdul Latif Al Mannai, Executive Manager of the Foundation for Social Work has stated that while the world is celebrating the Women's Day, we here in Qatar celebrate every day with our women by honoring and giving them their rights and empowering them also, On this occasion, she congratulated all the women of Qatar and added that the empowerment of women lies also in the cohesion of the family and the preservation of its unity.

She added that Qatar for social work as a civil society organization is keen to achieve women's empowerment through various means, including raising awareness and education and the selection of specialized and balanced personalities of the highest positions of leadership and which has a community acceptance. She noted that empowerment is the essence of the work of the Qatari Foundation not only for women, but for all target categories, so the institution considers empowerment as a curriculum and lifestyle, and she is keen to achieve it in all activities. Also, she stressed that the conditions created by the siege contributed in highlighting the real importance of the family and community cohesion by all members of the family as well as the role of women who have made great efforts in this crisis, despite the psychological and social damage it caused. She stressed the importance of the celebration of international days especially the International Women's Day, as Qatar is a signatory country to the International Covenants on Human Rights such as the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights and the International Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights, which will have a positive impact on the strategies, policies and legislation of the State.

At the end of her speech she mentioned that we really appreciate the partnership with the National Human Rights Committee and thank all the speakers in this meeting.

 

 

Maryam Al-Attiyah: The leadership of the State has enabled women to participate in the public life of Qatari society.

 

The General Secretary of the National Human Rights Committee congratulated the women all over the world and Arab women in general and the Qatari woman in particular, whom she said that they had demonstrated an outstanding ability in all work assigned to them and responsibilities in various areas of life.

She said: "The leadership of the State of Qatar has enabled women to participate in the public life of the Qatari society and become an integral part of the political, social, cultural and even sports movement. She explained that women in Qatar have already become the equivalent of men, as Prophet Mohammed (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said. Thanks to the awareness of the State leadership and its recognition of the important role that women can play in various areas of life. She emphasized the great attention given by the National Human Right Committee in pursuing, and developing these gains. Stressing at the same time that Qatari women have the awareness and responsibility that makes them a human wealth cherished by our country.

In this context, the Secretary General of the National Human Rights Committee praised the great efforts exerted by Aman Center in the process of protecting, rehabilitating and empowering women, pointing to the increasing roles played by Aman Center for Family Stability, in which women are considered the main pillar, represents a guarantee for the state in the existence of a qualified human cadre in all aspects. She added that "Aman center provide awareness and education campaigns which serve as a protective shield for the Qatari community from bad habits of many societies in the world. Al-Attiyah stressed that the National Human Rights Committee is ready to work with Aman Center in the framework of their partnership and to organize wide awareness campaigns to protect and promote women's rights.

Mansour Al-Saadi: Empowering women is a strategic choice

Mansour Al Saadi, the Executive Director of Aman Center said that such an interactive meeting contributes in raising awareness and clarifying the concepts on some issues, especially empowerment and its relationship to family cohesion, and the impact of these concepts on the formation of awareness of the target categories. He added that this meeting will lead us to exert more efforts to organize many specialized events to discuss such issues in a balanced discussion methodology. The Center works to ensure that women's awareness campaigns and activities are based on raising awareness of the nature of women and the importance of their role, as well as the specific areas in which they can participate. The Center also seeks to launch programs and applications that help to achieve empowerment in a simple and practical way.

Aman Center:

Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center (AMAN) was established in 2013 by Her Highness Sheikha Moza Bint Nasser. It is dedicated to protect and rehabilitating children and women and reintegrating them into society. Aman Center is part of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work.

The National Human Rights Committee:

Is an official national committee with a special legal nature. It is not a governmental and not a civil society organization but a committee with permanent consultative authorities on human rights at the national level.
