The Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center "Aman", one of the Centers of the Qatar Foundation for Social Work, is participating in the 31st Doha International Book Fair, through the "My Book is My Friend" initiative by providing a number of vending devices for children's books and stories. This initiative contributes to achieving the Center's strategic goals, through the provision of awareness and education for the target groups of children, and activating the principle of community partnership among the various external actors

In this context, Mrs. Hanan Al Ali, Director of Media & Communication department at Aman Center, confirmed the Center's keenness to participate in the Doha International Book Fair with the "My Book is My Friend" initiative annually, by distributing devices for vending books and stories to children at a subsidized nominal charge (non-profit). These devices operate by using the same mechanism as the devices used to sell beverages and sweets. These devices were designed according to the special specifications of the child taking into consideration the length, ease of use, and instructions with selected types of books and stories useful and appropriate for the child.

She also clarified that these devices have been distributed in the most vital areas of children's gatherings in the country such as malls, near the children's play areas, cinemas, parks, and children's clinics.

She added that the Center has participated in providing a series of awareness workshops for children daily at the Doha International Book Fair, by providing some important advice on ways and mechanisms of social protection for children.

For her part, she stressed the keenness of the Center's Community Awareness Department to prepare and design new and innovative programs to protect our children and to use modern technology to attract children and achieve the Center's vision and mission in bringing about social protection to reduce violence. The Center also seeks to participate annually in the "My Book is My Friend" initiative in the Doha International Book Fair, in addition to providing some awareness workshops for children. Through such cultural gatherings, we join hands and cooperate with various external sectors, in order to achieve our common goals in support of continuously providing the best for our society.

It is worth mentioning that the Protection and Social Rehabilitation Center (Aman) is concerned with the protection and rehabilitation of women and children who are victims of violence and family breakdown and reintegrating them into society.
